INSiGHT Nervous System Scans for Families in Severna Park, MD
INSiGHT scans are non-invasive tests that use heart rate variability, surface EMG, and thermography to measure how well the nervous system is adapting to stress. At our Severna Park office, Dr. Michelle Herczeg uses them during your first visit and on later rescans to guide and track care for kids, expecting moms, and parents.

What are INSiGHT scans, and why do we use them?
INSiGHT scans are a set of nervous system tests from the Chiropractic Leadership Alliance (CLA), known as the INSiGHT neuroTECH. They measure nervous system function instead of relying only on what we see or feel. PX Docs use the scans to look at the location and severity of subluxation, nervous system dysfunction, and dysautonomia, an imbalance in the automatic system that guides things like heart rate, breathing, and digestion.
How do the three INSiGHT technologies work?
Each technology looks at a different part of nervous system function, and together they create one neural profile:
- Heart rate variability (neuroPULSE): a sensor on the fingertip or earlobe tracks small changes in the time between heartbeats, which reflect the balance and adaptability of the autonomic nervous system.
- Surface EMG (neuroCORE): sensors placed on the skin along the spine measure muscle tone, showing areas that may be working too hard or running low on energy.
- Thermography (neuroTHERMAL): a scanner moves along the spine to read temperature patterns, which reflect how well the nervous system is regulating organs and glands.
What will Severna Park families learn from their scan results?
After scanning, the software combines the findings into a single number called the CORESCORE, along with visual reports that are easy to walk through together. Dr. Herczeg reviews these with you in plain language, showing where the nervous system appears to be under stress and how that may connect to your concerns. Later rescans let us compare results over time. Progress can sometimes appear on a rescan before symptoms change.
Can babies and young children have INSiGHT scans?
Yes. CLA built the system to create a neural profile for patients of any age, and nothing breaks the skin. Sensors simply rest on or move along the skin, with no needles or injections. For infants, the heart rate sensor can clip to the earlobe while the baby lies on a pillow, and scans for young children can be shortened if wiggles become a problem.
How do INSiGHT scans fit into a first visit at our Severna Park office?
Scans are part of the neurological exam at your first visit. We begin with an in-depth consultation and detailed case history, including concerns you may have been told not to worry about. Next, Dr. Herczeg performs the exam using INSiGHT scans. We then review the results with you and recommend a personalized plan. To schedule, visit our new patient page or call (410) 469-7991.
Frequently Asked Questions About INSiGHT Scans in Severna Park, MD
Do INSiGHT scans hurt?
No. The sensors sit on the fingertip or earlobe or rest against the skin along the spine, and nothing breaks the skin. For babies, we can use an ear clip while they rest on a pillow, so the experience stays calm and gentle.
Can my newborn have an INSiGHT scan in Severna Park?
Yes. CLA designed INSiGHT technology to create a neural profile for patients of any age, including infants. At our Severna Park office, Dr. Herczeg adapts the process for little ones, using an earlobe sensor and a comfortable position so the scan fits your baby's needs.
What is a CORESCORE?
A CORESCORE is a single number that summarizes the combined results of the heart rate variability, surface EMG, and thermography scans. It gives families an easy way to see the overall picture of nervous system function and to compare results from one scan to the next as care progresses.
Do parents get INSiGHT scans too?
Yes. INSiGHT scans are part of the neurological exam for new patients of every age, including parents and young adults. A parent's results help us understand the whole family's needs, and rescans help track progress for everyone under care.
